An extract from the commercial register is one of the key documents through which an authorized person verifies the data entered in the RPVS and also identifies the ultimate beneficiary. In the following article, we therefore provide you with simple instructions on where and how you can obtain an extract that is usable for legal purposes.

How to obtain a commercial register extract for legal purposes?

For the proper verification of the identity of the final beneficiary of the public sector partner and the verification of the accuracy, validity and completeness of the data entered in the register of public sector partners (performance of the so-called verification), it is necessary, in accordance with the legal obligation of the public sector partner to cooperate with the authorized person, to also submit documents on the basis of which the authorized person will perform this verification.

The necessary documents include, among other things, a current extract from the commercial register of the public sector partner that can be used for legal purposes. An extract from the commercial register is a document that contains the data entered in the commercial register on the date of issue of the extract. The commercial register is a public register in which data specified by law relating to commercial companies, cooperatives or natural persons - entrepreneurs are entered. It contains information such as the business name, registered office, identification number, subject of business, statutory body, amount of registered capital and other information, the scope of which is laid down in Act No. 530/2003 Coll. on the Commercial Register and on amendments to certain acts, as amended.

Information from the Commercial Register is also publicly available on the website www.orsr.sk. However, please note! Such an extract from the Commercial Register from the website is not usable for legal purposes; it is for informational purposes only. This notice is also found at the bottom of the extract.

So where can you obtain an “official” extract from the Commercial Register for legal purposes?

There are several ways:

1Central Public Administration Portal - to use this service, you will need an electronic ID card, which you can use to submit a request for an extract from the commercial register via the electronic service of the Central Public Administration Portal www.slovensko.sk. Based on the electronic application, you can obtain a legally valid extract from the commercial register free of charge in electronic form, and you will pay 6.50 EUR for an extract in printed form.

2. Post office - you can also obtain an extract from the commercial register at the post office for 4.50 EUR. A list of post offices where you can obtain an extract from the commercial register is available at https://www.posta.sk/sluzby/sluzby-statu-na-poste.

3. Notary public - the price for issuing an extract is fixed and depends on the number of pages. At a notary, you pay a fee of EUR 1.33 excluding VAT for each page contained in the extract from the commercial register. In addition, you will also pay a fee of EUR 0.70, which the notary pays to the Notary Chamber for the operation of the information system. After adding value added tax, the price for a two-page extract from the Commercial Register at a notary is EUR 4.03, for a three-page extract you will pay EUR 5.63, and for a four-page extract you will pay the notary a fee of EUR 7.22.

The most accessible option is probably to obtain an extract from the Commercial Register at the post office, as it has several branches and there is certainly one in your area, but the most convenient and cheapest option is to obtain an extract from the Commercial Register in electronic form via the electronic service of the Central Public Administration Portal.
