The Office for the Regulation of Electronic Communications and Postal Services has pointed out that most websites in Slovakia continue to violate the law regarding the use of cookies. The problem lies in the storage of cookies without demonstrable user consent.
Operators face fines of up to 5% of the company’s turnover for such conduct. Since the law took effect, the office has conducted more than 105 inspections and imposed fines totaling over 80,000 euros.
The authority recommends that website operators allow users to easily opt out of all cookies, offer clear settings, and comply with applicable guidelines.
