DATA PRIVACY & SECURITY DAY 2026 featured expert discussions on personal data protection, the GDPR, AI, cybersecurity, and regulation in 2026. Check out the key takeaways from the conference.
Today, personal data protection, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity can no longer be viewed in isolation. That is why we participated in the second annual DATA PRIVACY & SECURITY DAY 2026 conference, organized by the Association for Personal Data Protection in cooperation with the Cybersecurity Association under the auspices of the Slovak Data Protection Authority.
Representing our company at the event were our colleagues Nikoleta Ducárová and Jela Maruškinová, who were directly involved in expert discussions shaping the future of personal data protection, AI, and cybersecurity in Slovakia and at the EU level.
Key topics of the morning program
The expert presentations focused primarily on current and upcoming regulatory changes that will have a significant impact on organizational practices in 2026:
- the new Personal Data Protection Act and the Digital Omnibus package,
- the future of cookies, ePrivacy, and unsolicited communications,
- the direction of supervisory authorities’ enforcement activities and the practical implications of the regulations.
The discussions clearly demonstrated that personal data protection is no longer “just the GDPR.” It involves a complex interplay of law, technology, internal processes, and the accountability of organizational leadership.
A More Technical Perspective in the Afternoon
The afternoon program took on a more technical tone and addressed practical, front-line issues:
- responsible AI—legal frameworks, ethical limits, and security risks,
- cybersecurity in practice—ransomware, NIS2, certification, security assessments, and lessons learned from real-world incidents.
A highlight was the open discussions and sharing of concrete experiences from audits, incidents, and solution implementations—not just theory “on paper.”
A Look to the Future
The closing remarks delivered a clear message: personal data protection, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity will become increasingly interconnected, and organizations must respond to this reality today.
We are taking away from the conference a wealth of practical insights with a direct impact on our clients’ day-to-day operations.
We would like to thank the Association for the Protection of Personal Data for an excellently organized event and for providing a forum for high-quality professional discussions.
